1951 VOLKSWAGEN SPLIT WINDOW BEETLE
This 1951 Volkswagen Split Window Beetle has been part of a collection here in North Florida since the late 1990's. The car was restored by the current owner and is now fitted with a Scat 1776cc dual port engine with dual Webber carburetors. In addition it has Porsche 356 brakes. It sits on an early 1960's VW pan that has been powder coated gloss black. The Beetle has semaphores, original VW gauges, and original trim. It is being sold with a clean, clear Florida title, mileage will state exempt.
Per the owner regarding the Beetle's history, It is one of the first Volkswagens to be imported into the United States. He purchased this car in Clearwater, Florida in 1963. He then installed Porsche 356 brakes and a VW engine prepared by Wayne Purdy of Formula Vee fame, the car was raced in SCCA competition. The owner sold the car to make a down payment on a house circa 1964-1965. He later located the car in Atlanta in the late 1990's and was reunited with the car and the complete restoration followed.
Collection was featured in the Jan/Feb '21 Vintage Motorsport Magazine, article titled, "Bremer Garage".
